Should I give up eating pastries so my diabetic roommate won't feel tempted?
Admittedly, it's a little hard to sit there and wolf down a huge
slab of banana cream pie, if your roommate is watching you
like a spaniel. You both feel sorry for her, you feel guilty, and
these are very digestion upsetting emotions. Still, you definitely
shouldn't give up your pastries for your roommate's
sake. She's going to have to get used to being tempted and
resisting temptation. It's similar to an alcoholic's situation. He
or she has to be able to go to a place where others are drinking
and yet not drink.
There remains, however, a question you didn't ask. And that is, should you give up pastries for your own sake? Pastries are hardly the nutritional dream dish for anybody, diabetic or not. And how is your weight?
