How do you treat a breast abscess? What is a breast abscess?
An abscess in the breast is a collection of pus beneath
the inflamed skin. It is commonly encountered in association
with nipple injury, such as a bite or abrasion, during
breast feeding. In other instances it results from injury
to the breast with a needle or instrument. The abscesses
usually heal completely and permanently after the pus is
let out by an incision. Where an assumed breast abscess
is seen without pregnancy or injury, one suspects an
unusual type of infection or tumor.
